Ashley is a partner in Burchell MacDougall’s Elmsdale office and has been practicing with the firm since 2018. Prior to that, Ashley worked in both large and small firms, as well as a solicitor with the Halifax Regional Municipality.
For many years, Ashley’s practice area has primarily focused on Family Law and Litigation, and she has appeared before various levels of Court and forums within Nova Scotia including the Nova Scotia Supreme Court (both General and Family Division), Nova Scotia Provincial Court, Nova Scotia Small Claims Court, the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal, the Nova Scotia Police Review Board, the Human Rights Commission and Nova Scotia Labour Board.
Recently, Ashley has decided to shift her focus area and is now practicing primarily in Real Property, which has been a practice area of hers for years but will now be her primary focus. Ashley is looking forward to this new challenge and this next chapter of her career. As a long-time litigator, Ashley prides herself in her ability to negotiate and find resolutions to problems and views herself as a problem-solver with strong communication skills, which will be invaluable in this next phase.
Ashley will continue to assist her clients with uncontested divorces, separations, prenuptial agreements and adoptions.
In her free time, Ashley enjoys fitness, running her young son to the soccer and baseball fields and getting “home” to Miramichi, New Brunswick to visit her family.
Ashley Dutcher was recognized by The Best Lawyers™ in Canada 2025 for her practice in Family Law.
